Amikor a hirdetés nem csak eredményt, hanem kockázatot is jelent

Why are you speaking openly? SEO Hungary about Facebook's scam ads?

We deal with online marketing. We manage advertisements. We are responsible for clients' budgets.

And that's exactly why we can't pretend we don't see what's happening on Facebook and Instagram today.

This article is not about "the Facebook "It's not about not advertising online. It's about As a marketing agency, we have a responsibility to say: the advertising environment has changed, and with it the risks have increased..

What do we as a marketing agency see in everyday life?

From the customers' side often the same questions are arriving:

  • „Why is a click so expensive now?”

  • „"Why is the situation deteriorating?" conversion, if we spend more money?”

  • „Why have people become more distrustful of advertising?”

And in the background we see that in the same advertising system, where honest businesses are trying to get customers, scam ads are appearing en masse. Fake webshops, bogus investment offers, and artificially generated "famous faces" run, often for days or weeks.

This is not an isolated phenomenon, but systemic problem.

Why is this a problem from a marketing perspective?

It is important to state: this is not a technical error.
This business model issue.

Meta's advertising system basically:

  • automated,

  • optimized for volume,

  • revenue-driven.

The more ad runs, the more clicks there are, the more revenue is generated. The primary customer of the system is advertiser, not the end user. If an ad pays, it is more likely to be displayed.

As a marketer, this leads to a very important conclusion: the platform does not automatically protect the interests of your brand.

Why is an agency offering advertising services talking about this?

Because we live off this system too. And that's exactly why we see how it works from the inside.

We don't aim to drive every customer to Facebook ads. We don't aim to increase every spend. Our goal is to we tell you when it makes sense to advertise and when it poses a risk to the brand.

The ad is a tool. No strategy. And if used in the wrong environment, it can do more harm than good.

Who pays for the fraudulent ads?

The users

People are encountering fraud more and more often, therefore:

  • they will become more distrustful,

  • they click less,

  • they are automatically suspicious.

Honest advertisers

They are bidding in the same auction as the scammers, so:

The marketing profession as a whole

It is increasingly being said, „Marketing is just a scam.” This is one of the biggest long-term harms.

How does SEO Hungary think about this?

We don't sell a platform. We we think strategically.

Our first question is not how big the advertising budget should be, but rather:

  • where it is worth being present,

  • where true trust is built,

  • what works in 6–12 months.

We use ads. Consciously. In a filtered environment. Along with other channels:

  • With SEO,

  • with content marketing,

  • with its own database,

  • with remarketing.

Never standing on one leg.

What do we advise our clients?

Don't let your marketing be platform-dependent.
Facebook is not a strategy. The Google Ads are not a strategy. A channel is always a risk.

Build your own interface.
Website, SEO, email list, your own data. These are the tools you have real control over.

Think in terms of brand, not campaign.
Short-term ROAS in itself is not valuable if trust deteriorates in the meantime.

Where is this all going?

More automation is coming. More Artificial Intelligence. More ads.

But not necessarily more trust.

That's why we believe that the future of marketing lies not in louder advertising, but in in a smarter, more thoughtful presence.

Why did we write this article?

Because as a marketing agency:

  • we see the system from the inside,

  • we work with it every day,

  • and we don't want to ignore its risks.

We're not saying don't advertise. We're saying:

Advertise smartly. With a partner who not only spends your money, but also protects your brand.

If you want a marketing strategy that not only delivers short-term results but also builds trust in the long term, then it's worth talking about. Even without advertising.

Good marketing is not loud. Good marketing is authentic…
